International Conference on Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Skills for Child and Youth Caretakers

in the frame of the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership „CYCLES“

Child and youth care systems in countries across Europe provide decent support for children and adolescents with complex needs. However, in most countries care ends at the age of 18, leaving the so-called young care leavers to stand on their own feet and earn a living. Young care leavers (YCL) belong to the most vulnerable groups in European societies, exhibiting an above-average propensity to fall into unemployment, poverty, criminality and other undesirable developments. YCL´s employability would increase substantially with improved financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills. The problem is, however, that YCL hardly get the chance to develop such skills during care as the majority of caretakers have deficits in these fields due to having hardly having any economic subjects in their studies or formation.
Therefore, the International Conference on Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Skills for Child and Youth Caretakers in the frame of the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership „CYCLES“ addresses the importance of increasing the economic knowledge of caretakers to act as multipliers for YCL to prepare them economically better to their individual lives.
The conference aims to increase the awareness of the necessity to fill this knowledge gap and will present the CYCLES training which serves as a solution to the current mismatch of competences.
The International Conference on Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Skills for Child and Youth Caretakers approaches caretakers, pedagogues and educators, representatives of child and youth care organisations and local, regional and national political and educational authorities and the scientific community.
